Breakout of the Year

The Toy Chronicle: Breakout of the Year

Continuing our thoughts on 2013, The Toy Chronicle look at those that have really broken through during 2013. Let us introduce you to what we think are the ‘Breakout of the Year’…

Andy’s Breakout of the Year…

[heading]Roar With Lukas![/heading]

[frame align=”center”]Roar With Lukas![/frame]

[pullquote]Roar With Lukas! has to be Breakout of the Year for me, after only just recently finding his work. Very unique colouring style & nice designs! This guy is going from strength to strength.[/pullquote]

Matt’s Breakout of the Year…

[heading]ibreaktoys aka Lisa Rae Hansen[/heading]

[frame align=”center”]MegaSeth at ToyConUK[/frame]

[pullquote]I love Lisa’s work. The characters she comes up with are über cool and the work that goes into them is top notch. The first I heard of I Break Toys was when she did MegaSeth for ToyConUK but now there isn’t a custom show in the UK or Europe that doesn’t feature some of the work from this talented lady[/pullquote]

Gary’s Breakout of the Year…

[heading]Skelevex by DMS & alto[/heading]

[frame align=”center”]Wall of Skelevex[/frame]

[pullquote]This collaboration between DMS & alto has shown some serious potential this year, growing stronger & stronger with each release. Also with each said release being snapped up instantly upon dropping to the public. It’s a great product and I can’t see these guys slowing down in 2014 neither. Long live Skelevex![/pullquote]

Evan’s Breakout of the Year…

[heading]PJ Constable[/heading]

[frame align=”center”]PJ Constable[/frame]

[pullquote]PJ Constable is my choice for breakout of the year due to the fact that he has not stopped making new and creative pieces. He is already well known for his custom work in the toy scene and his style can be spotted right away. His work is already top notch and just keeps getting better.[/pullquote]

Rob’s Breakout of the Year…

[heading]Mike Strick[/heading]

[frame align=”center”]Mike Strick[/frame]

[pullquote]With his custom mega munny at ToyConUK 2013 and his custom T-con at the group show, Mike is really making the right sort of waves for me. Imaginative and well executed work to such a high standard has taken Mike to new heights this year and I really cant wait to see what he has in store for 2014![/pullquote]

Rich’s Breakout of the Year…

[heading]ToyConUK[/heading]

[frame align=”center”]ToyCon[/frame]

[pullquote]The first ToyCon has to be the biggest breakthrough this year. It’s now the focal point of the UK scene and everyone will be looking forward to April 2014.[/pullquote]

Who would you say was your Breakout of the Year? Who has stepped up to the plate during 2013? Let us know in the comments!
