Thank You, Collect & Display Lee!

News this Sunday is that our good friend Lee at Collect & Display has sold the C&D business he started back in 2012, and is moving onto new personal projects. We wanted to go on record to send our thanks to Lee for his support whilst he ran Collect & Display. Both TTC and C&D started around the same time as each other in this game of Designer Toys, and it was great to have his friendship during the past seven years. Working together on numerous things that have build both brands up to be some of the best in the Designer Toy scene.

Lee has been a steadfast force in the resurgence in Designer Toys in the United Kingdom since late 2012. It was an absolute pleasure to see him grow the business over $1million in sales! That is some f’n going! Proud of you, brother!

You can read the full quote from Lee that he posted to his Facebook earlier today! Read it below….

After careful consideration I have made the decision to sell Collect and Display. I started this as a hobby on the side whilst working at Tesco and after being made redundant in 2015 I decided to make a go of it full time and it grew to something more than I ever could have dreamed of, last year hitting the $1,000,000 mark in sales since opening.

It would take me a long time to thank everyone individually who helped with my success. Special mentions: Thanks to Carol Mcsweeney who let me pack orders in the kitchen when i was living at home and did not complain (too much) about the packing peanuts everywhere. My family for their support. To the blogs and other toy stores who offered support, help and advice. To the customers who never made Collect and Display feel like a job, just talking to someone who shared the same passion. To my old friends from Tesco who believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself. I have learnt so much about business in general and looking back at my 2014 emails with an opening of ‘yo’ makes me cringe.

Its been a crazy ride and I will 100000% miss it but am confident the new owners can give it the new direction and expansion needed to grow.

Going forward I will be launching 2PR Productions Ltd exclusively working with Liam Twopetalrose on production pieces and other collaborative projects. We have so much planned and this sale means I can put more focus here.

I am also planning to do more with my personal training and nutrition coaching certifications. If you know of a space available for opening a small gym please let me know. Also if you are interested in hiring a personal trainer/nutrition coach let me know 😁

Thanks again to everyone that has supported me. Much love 🥂

Lee McSweeney (Collect & Display), July 2020

Whilst this is the end of Lee’s Collect & Display journey, we know that he will go on to great things working with 2petalrose for their production releases! We have already seen the first Kid Katana earlier this year. TTC have already opened discussion with the new owners of Collect & Display and hopefully we will see great things come from this new business relationship!

Thank you, Lee!

If you want to support The Toy Chronicle, we have a number of options available to you. We have started to stock a wide range of releases that we think you will enjoy. Ranging from production pieces from Superplastic, Unbox Industries & POP MART, to original pieces from our favourite artists like Sank Toys, Quiccs & Czee13. Purchasing one of our pins also really help. A quick, cheap way to also support the TTC is by making a small donation. These can all be completed below through our online shop. We appreciate all the support! Thanks!
