ComplexCon 2018

Its a new year and one more highlight of the year will be Complex Con! If anything is to go by previous years 2018 Complex Con will be a success. This year Complex Con will take place Nov. 3-4 in Long Beach, California. “The third annual event bringing together important figures in our culture spanning music, streetwear, art, entrepreneurship, and more for an experience that brings the internet to life”. For us Art Toy collectors it will have our pulses racing as iconic contemporary artist Takashi Murakamifounding host committee member of Complex Con has been teasing fans/collectors of new art we predict another release at Complex Con. Heres what Complex has to say about Complex Con 2018.

ComplexCon is an expertly curated convention and festival bringing the world of Complex to life. The groundbreaking festival and exhibition that brings together pop culture, music, art, food, style, sports, innovation, activism, and education. This is our generation’s world fair. The minds behind Complex have come together with Cultural Director/Executive Chair Pharrell Williams and legendary artist Takashi Murakami to imagine a place where creators, curators and YOU converge to celebrate and shape our culture – Complex Con

This year, Complex Con will focus on the enlightenment and empowerment of the individual, reflecting the issues and conversations that permeate and influence culture today from entertainment to art to politics.

We’re putting a focus on the enlightenment and empowerment of the individual through creativity for ComplexCon 2018. To signify this theme, founding host committee member and iconic contemporary artist Takashi Murakami has created an ensō, a sacred symbol that represents many things in Zen tradition. From fullness to emptiness, strength, or the universe, the definition of an ensō is up for interpretation. Takashi’s hand-drawn, personalized ensō represents the cycle of life and creative pursuits, and using that energy as a positive force in the world. This theme is especially important in today’s climate of art, entertainment, and political issues merging, and will be present throughout the two-day event. It’s also reflected in the new ComplexCon logo.

“There is a cycle to everything—art, culture, design, life that begins with chaos where everything is mixed up together and as an idea forms, it changes and grows, it’s always moving from present to future. ComplexCon has this cycle, where so many ideas are swirling, the atmosphere is charged with potential and from that amazing ideas, collaborations are formed and the cycle continues,” Takashi says. “And I am deeply affected by events and chaos in the world but see incredible young people rise up to tackle them. And from that energy new things are born that touch everything in culture. It was important to embrace this at ComplexCon this year.” – complex.com
