You know sometimes you come across an art toy and you don’t feel you need to write too much, or go into too much depth because the piece of art speaks for itself. Well Lou Pimentel’s mini Ghost Girl customs “Silhouettes” falls into that category. Simply beautiful and with a wonderful meaning to go along with it. Silhouettes will be apart of Matt Siren‘s new vinyl toy Mini Ghost Girl Expo at NYCC, which you can read about HERE.
“I wanted to play with the idea of life and death since the platform is called a Ghost Girl. They say we see flashes of our lives when we are on the verge of death. These landscapes are old moments and memories, like time-capsules frozen in time.Losing a loved one is never easy, and its feels like a shadow/void has been left behind. BUT, it’s the memories that keep us going, and help us appreciate life. The black silhouettes represent the physical form we left behind, and the bright beautiful landscapes represent life, and the memories we’ve created and shared with loved ones. “
Lou’s customs no matter what platform are just as good as his canvases. All the colours and watercolour look is simply mesmerising, soft colours that you can just stare at all day long. His trademark water colour style is an eye catcher and you can always tell that it’s his work. After reading the idea behind Lou’s custom, it makes me want to see these in person.
