As we reported yesterday, Joe Ledbetter has teamed up with Kidrobot again to release his Pelican’t vinyl figure this week (Friday 24th March) and we at The Toy Chronicle were lucky enough to get our hands on the OG colourway of Pelican’t a week early to give it a little review.
Pelican’t, if you’ve not noticed, is a big ol’ unhappy Pelican. He’s got his sad face on, but wouldn’t you if you had three holes in your beak, leaking water? We guess it’s like having your wisdom teeth ripped out. Not fun. Pelican’t does have the big, bright colours, bold lines, huge eyes. The Ledbetter style we all love, right?! We just wish we could make Pelican’t smile. Brings the mood down around here!
One of our favourite pieces of Pelican’t is the wee little fish that adorn the sides of the water jets. He has no issues smiling. Oh, he’s a smiler all right, amirite?! No cares in the world, the way it should be.
We’re really happy with Pelican’t, it’s something quite cool from Kidrobot, with all the quirkiness we absolutely love from Ledbetter. Whilst Joe has previously worked with KR before, we still think that Pelican’t feels like a new approach. It’s good in our books. Pelican’t will come in its own clear plastic fronted presentation box.
Kidrobot will also have an exclusive Blue Arctic colourway of Pelican’t available on their website HERE on Friday. Not entirely sure on the run size of Blue Arctic, but we imagine it will be 200. Dropping at 10am MST (which is 4pm UK) on Friday 24th. No price details as yet. Will update once available.
Pelican’t is actually part of a wider release between Ledbetter & Kidrobot. He is part of The Outsiders. A blindbox vinyl mini-figure series coming soon. No official release date from KR yet, but we’ll keep you posted once it becomes available!
