Thanks Ghost Fox Toys! No, unfortunately we will not have any releases for Dcon this year. In the past we have had exclusives with retailers, and last year we walked around Dcon and sold toys out of a backpack. We have tried to get a booth and/or artist table at both Dcon and 5points for the past few years. No luck with the application process… We plan to keep doing what we are doing, and maybe one year we will get a shot.

Hi everyone in TCC welcomes to “Tips time by FMC EP.1”

Today I’m gonna show you guys some tips that I’ve used for a while. As you can see in the picture below it’s a shoe of our new designer toys “Gramps”

The point is its kinda annoy to sculpt everything and in the same size and the same way right? And this is that case too

So I bring an original shoe that I’m done with it and copy it with a Silicone mold process with a rough detail first and cast it with “Castilene Wax” and just do a cleaning and detailing job with it and it’s done you have another look-alike shoes without a pain of sculpting it from the scratch

And this process can be used for any kind of sculpt that have to do a lot of pieces that have the same look or similar to save your timeย  ๐Ÿ˜€

We gonna have more about Tips & Tricks from now on so please keep following us for the one who got an interest

You can keep up to date with us

I think there were a significant amount of people who attended DCon last year that only did so because of Funkoโ€™s presence… and it opened their eyes to a whole new science for collectibles. I have friends who were only into Pops that are now deep into designer toys.

Just spend my afternoon painting oyster shell toys from korea!

    My first customised toy!

First time I’ve ever painted a toy! The toy is called ‘Yuny'(designed by Ha-Young Woo

    Painting!

    Just getting started!

Took my sister, she was lucky enough to get to paint on a ‘Jake’ figure Jake

Also had the chance to try some korean drinks & snacks! Very tasty!

Hopefully more painting parties with happen in the future! https://www.facebook.com/groups/401926313714726/

I don’t customise too many toys, but I like the Citadel paints that are usually used for Warhammer models.

@Theresa: I feel the same when it comes to Ryniak minis O:).

I think it’s only too much when people stop buying. That’s the clearest sign people have had enough. I’ve never been a fan of these pieces, but did notice all the different variants. With toys I do collect that have a lot of variants I usually stick to the colours I like. I used to be a completionist, but I’ve stopped with that because it’s just not possible to collect every single piece (plus I don’t want 15 colourways of the same toy).

Not toy related necessarily, but I have the same issue with 3D-printing. We have some of these at work and they’re really wonderful in teaching kids about designing, but the plastic… I’ve talked to several companies and they told me even so called bio-filament really has nothing natural about it as it couldn’t have the quality of regular filament if it was truly biodegradable or at least good/better for the environment than the regular filament.

So when it comes to toys, phew. I have a lot of plastic haha. Some resin pieces too. If artists recycle as much as possible and companies use recycled stuff that’s an awesome start. With biodegradables I think everybody might end up with empty cabinets, but I’ve never looked into the subject so I can’t be too sure :P. Recycling seems an option though. As well as cutting out any disposables. But you do need to be creative as there don’t seem to be too many alternatives out there yet.

Thankfully when we say โ€œThe end of Botsโ€ we donโ€™t refer to our favourites The Bots. Theyโ€™re still going strong, and we hope for a long time to come. What we are referencing is the image that KAWS dropped earlier on his IG (pic below) where KAWS was disappointed in the number of bots being used to purchase the Gone release this week.

    kaws-end-of-bots

Now bots are nothing new, theyโ€™ve been round since the dawn of the hype beast era and probably a long time before that too. These automated programmes used by punters to quickly purchase limited edition releases be that toys, sneakers, tickets etc with speed far quicker than the average human giving them a MUCH higher percentage to purchase said limited edition releases.

With KAWS saying that they will be reviewing orders and cancelling any that are found to have used a bot to purchase and not only cancelling their order BUT BLACKLISTING THEM TOO. This feels like a huge step in the right direction.

More & more Designer Toy companies such as Martian Toys, Tenacious Toys etc are reviewing orders in the hope to cancel out any bot purchases, and as this becomes more prevalent and with KAWS taking notice, perhaps this is a new dawn where those using bots donโ€™t get their hands

What do you think? Are bots a good thing or are they the scourge of the online shopping world?
