Craig Galentine aka kokeshi_clan is an artist that has been creating his own custom toys for nearly a decade. Although he occasionally customizes vinyl toys, he prefers to paint on wood, in the form of 4″ kokeshi dolls which produced by himself.
All of his kokeshi dolls are painted by hand with acrylic paint, many characters of hi own design but he gets also inspiration from culture.
Four new Ninja Kokeshi dolls are now available on his webstore, the Temple7e.etsy.com.
You can tell only by looking that these characters are made with extreme passion and dedication, the smooth lines in the wood make them very appealing giving almost a “zen” feeling to the viewer;
The 7E Ninja kokeshi doll Shinobi. Tree frog colorway;
“Known as the Tree Frog because they’re said to “stick to the trees”. They dress in browns and greens and move about the concrete jungle on their missions unseen.”
Available both in “male” and “female” versions, they stand Approx4 1/4″ tall X 2″ wide ( 11 cm tall X 5cm ).
Made of two pieces of birch wood, connected at the neck by a dowel, allowing for movement of the head from side to side.
Hand painted, numbered and signed, this is a limited edition of 10 pieces. Each comes with a custom shipping tube and a button, extra points there for presentation. Beautiful packaging!
