That moment when we first met and discovered Alessandro Randi of Codeczombie we fell in love with him and his art. The three that really put Codeczombie on the map was Feeding Plants x Ypsilon x Kissing Stones. Over the years we have seen Codeczombie refine his skills and design, ranging from smaller runs KUBREY, miniZISSOU, Shut the f*ck up, DONNY x BOSS MURRAY and the return of Moerbium Glow. We were lucky to own Feeding Plants and always bugged Codeczombie to continue Kissing Stones. Fast forward to the present day and is one of the most OCD and perfectionist artists we know, preparations are in place for the launch of “Drowning Thoughts”.
Although it may not be the anticipated release of Kissing Stones, “Drowning Thoughts” is such a beautiful piece. Need a prime example great designer toy art collectable made from resin? Drowning Thoughts is a great example. Simply just look at Drowning Thoughts hand pushing the bubble.
First paint test (pics are darker than IRL) for Drowning Thoughts, made on bad resin casts and without putting too much attention, sort of blocking out tones and gradients, definitely not particularly well-executed. The eyes are too dark and so on, otherwise, it wouldn’t be a test. Tomorrow it will be the big day, I’ll cast the outer transparent bubble which will change the whole thing. Since the bubble will be cast on the finished piece, if something goes wrong, I’ll have to throw everything away. I don’t know why I’ve decided to take this kind of risk, maybe because I just hate myself. Fortunately, I have the moral and technical support of two masters: the almighty @muffinmansculpts and the king of clear resins @flawtoys (sorry if you didn’t want to be named but it will also be your fault since you two encouraged me when I told you this stupid idea, you lovely sadic buddies) – Alessandro Randi of Codeczombie
Bubble test on paint test went 95% OK, I’ll remould the bubble (need to fix stuff) and some other minor changes in the process but, besides been dead for the stress, I’m almost satisfied, I still only see the things I need to fix. Let’s move on, totally doable- – Alessandro Randi of Codeczombie
