ToyConUK 2021 Update!

Whilst our current thoughts today are on the upcoming DesignerCon, and the fact we should have been on a plane to Anaheim today to take in the joys of the 2020 DCon edition, however, we are sat at home in East London wishing 2020 wasn’t the dumpster fire that it has been. However, our thoughts were jolted this afternoon as we received an email from the ToyConUK boys about the potential dates of the next edition of ToyConUK 2021!

The good news, is that the TCUK boys are still looking towards hosting ToyConUK 2021 next year in London. Obviously, things can drastically change between now and 2021, so, touch all the wood you can at this point!

The hope is that ToyConUK will take place at the new venue that was used in 2020, the Novotel London West in Hammersmith. Having had the joys of enduring an interesting weekend in March for ToyConUK 2020, we can confirm that the Novotel London West is a sure fire winner if we can get 2021 up & running.

Datewise, ToyConUK have booked in Saturday March 20th and Sunday March 21st as preliminary dates, to coincide with their normal time of year.

That being said we feel with the current lockdown(s) and travel restrictions that the possibility of this being a normal event at this time is still very slim.  ToyCon UK is very much about the people and their interactions, so not being able to have an almost normal event is something we will not be satisfied with.

ToyConUK have also booked in a secondary set of dates in June. Saturday June 12th and Sunday June 13th, to be more precise.

The hope is that these dates will have the conditions for us to have the type of ToyCon UK event we all know and love.

ToyConUK, November 2020

When we get into early 2021, we will look at how things stand and then proceed with preparations if we feel that the event seems likely to go ahead.  We expect the need for things to move a bit quicker than in previous years as we respond to the changing conditions

ToyConUK, November 2020

Hopefully, we are in a position to have the joys of ToyConUK next year. Missing out on Five Points Festival & DesignerCon, along with potential trips to Asia too, this has been sad times but we are hoping that 2021 will have a brighter outlook for the Designer Toy community around the globe. For now, stay safe, wear a mask, keep healthy and we will all get the chance to celebrate making it through the 2020 year with physical celebrations in 2021!
