“EXTINCTION – THE SHIP” part of the Buster Call Project Chino Lam gave his spin on the cult classic Japanese animated series One Piece. Last seen at ComplexCon 2019 the ship has set sail to China for the Buster Call Project tour. Fully licenced and Chino’s piece EXTINCTION – THE SHIP is one art piece that would leave One Piece fans jaw drop on the floor. Great geat tie in with Chino’s signature characters in a One Piece theme, especially with that Ivory look.
This time I used “千陽號” from the story ‘one piece’ to create an astonishing piece of work, I do not want to focus on creating a single character, I reckon a more wholesome depiction of pirate lives should include the events and daily stories on their ship. Using sculptures that made from ivory colour to design, helps celebrate the characteristics of “ORIENTAL ART” while ascending it to a higher sense of artistic level.
About the Project
ONE PIECE is the Japanese cartoon created by Eiichiro Oda, published in the “Weekly Shonen Jump” (Shueisha) since 1997 and has printed over 450 million copies to date.
This Project, in collaboration with Japanese and global artists, will recreate the identity of the ONE PIECE manga and anime series that has been a global phenomenon for over 20 years with its irresistibly passionate storylines, messages and content.
The global artists’ free and diversely humorous creations will revitalise our traditional society and through ONE PIECE we aim to create a new sense of values.
Cast your minds back to last year when Chino took part in the [ Extinction ] Art Vinyl Exhibition where his art peice symbolised Chino’s basketball and roots of himself rolled into one sculpture.
