Juce Gace is a renowned French artist best known for his mischievous art creations, through reimagining iconic characters in a cheeky tone. His name and brand became synonymous with his style of artwork, which blends classic designs with an evoking twist of French humor, adult sensitivities and modern satire.
Bringing these mischievous creations to life through various mediums, the WOOD MORNING SINGAPORE exhibition puts together a fascinating collection of collectible art prints, large-scale sculptures and exclusive art toys in both physical and digital formats – celebrating Juce Gace’s captivating art which has created a strong following of collectors and fans worldwide.
Meet Juce Gace – Pop Culture Toy Designer!
A screenwriter by day and toy designer by night, Paris-based creative Juce Gace spreads smiles all around with his childhood-inspired toys and other pop culture collectibles. Growing up in the 90’s, his work is strongly moved by the references of his childhood but always with a surprising twist!
He started by producing stickers and prints that he was sticking in the streets of Paris, which led him to be in urban pop culture by working with enamel pins. Jumping into the art toys world in 2017 with his first ever 3D piece called A Wood Awakening, Juce Gace has never looked back and plowed into creating more and more funny, cute and cheeky art pieces.
A Wood Awakening quickly becomes an icon of a new era of art toys drawing inspiration from classics yet fused with contemporary and urban influences, which he expanded on by creating new hits like Hole-Home and I Am Wood.
Juce Gace soon found his strong niche with his style of cheeky art toys carrying mischievous messages, through his penchant for exposing the unexpected behind the familiar to conjure the uncanny. It is no coincidence that his iconic A Wood Awakening character conjures up childhood pop-culture imagery such as the memorable puppet-turned-naughty-boy Pinocchio, punished for his compulsive lying with an ever-growing nose, just in Juce Gace’s case – an erection.
Relying on French humor, sexual enlightenment, and his spirited style to evoke joy and playfulness in everyone, Juce Gace goes beyond a critique or glorification of mass culture to surpass the distinctions between high and low culture.
His art toys have a different way of storytelling; they show us a completely naughty side of stories we take for granted, with a new and cheerful interpretation. Bear in mind that his art toys are not for children, although they are vivid, meticulous, and more than often tongue-in-cheek.
Featuring local Singapore artist collaboration!
Beyond just showcasing his signature cheeky designs and characters, Juce Gace brings a local flavour to WOOD MORNING SINGAPORE through his collaboration with Singaporean artist Tanavit23! Created in Singapore but raised on a tasty diet of Thai values, Tanavit23 brought grief to art teachers in school with below-average grades.
In 2018, he escaped the shackles of finance life to focus on earning the label of full-time illustrator/sculptor / toy person. Best known for his signature character JEM – a little boy rocking a tiger hat – Tanavit23 enjoys creating art that juxtaposes the fierce and the cute.
After the COVID pandemic lockdowns, Tanavit23 and Juce Gace finally met last year, and ideas between the two began to flow and fuse quickly. From blending their creative juices, a new collaboration piece – JEM (AWAKENING EDITION) – was born!
This art toy is a pure mashup between both artists’ universes – where the cuteness and elegance of Tanavit23’s JEM character meet the cheekiness and wood pattern of Juce’s work. JEM (AWAKENING EDITION) is now a real and happy puppet buddy, wearing light traditional-style clothes as well as his heavy winter-style hat.
Limited to a worldwide release of 100 pieces, JEM (AWAKENING EDITION) is imbued with cheekiness to bring that mischievous yet adorable touch to your collection!
Exclusive collectibles & releases
Together with BLAXK by ActionCity, Juce Gace brings even more unique and exclusive artworks and collectibles to Singapore for the WOOD MORNING SINGAPORE exhibition. The artist’s hit design – I Am Wood – is back! He shines bright like a diamond, reflecting the viewer in his eyes, or his butt, or any naughty parts in his anatomy. Specially designed and selected by Juce Gace given the complexity of this chrome production technique and produced in very limited numbers, this colour symbolises tolerance, happiness and love. Furthermore, as a colourful garden city, Singapore is a unique blend of wood and metal, best represented by this stunning art figure.
No Juce Gace exhibition will be complete without his iconic A Wood Awakening creation. Produced exclusively for the gallery BLAXK by ActionCity, this event-exclusive A Wood Awakening is in his classic pose but adorned in the rich colours of black and gold – celebrating the artist’s inaugural milestone exhibition in Singapore and the region!
Other than the pieces he designed and created, Juce Gace will also feature numerous collaborations with artists all around the world at this exhibition. The French artist will be launching a collaboration figure with Austria-based artist Theodoru, introducing their spin on the little blue smurf – Skulltoon Awakening!
It’s blue, it’s cute, it’s cheeky, from Theodoru’s signature skull mask/face with Juce’s sprinkle of magic to make everything rise. Some other international artists whose works are featured include Gregos, Rich Sheehan, Paisia, Paul Jackson, and more. WOOD MORNING SINGAPORE showcases Juce Gace’s reach within the global art community, banding them together to celebrate art in the spirit of fun, humour and contemporary relevance.
Juce Gace has created a strong impact in the world of art toy design and urban art, not just through creating a strong visual style synonymous with his brand, but also blazing through with his authenticity steeped in his own blend of artful humour.
Following his popular WOOD MORNING shows in Paris and Hong Kong, Juce Gace and his productions finally arrive in our Garden City for an exclusive exhibition! In his own words: “To entertain you is a pleasure and a real privilege.” So dope lah.
