Watching Arman Kendrick establishing himself as one of the Philippines’ finest and taking over the world, it was only time and destiny for Arman to land his first solo show here in the Philippines! Arte Bettina has laid out the red carpet and filled the gallery for Arman’s Yuki to Meiyo solo show! The pieces created for the show are heavily influenced by the toys and media that Arman encountered growing up. Below is a little taste of Yuki to Meiyo solo show.
Arte Bettina presents its first hybrid exhibition, a solo exhibition by Arman Kendrick entitled “Yūki to Meiyo” 勇気と名誉 (Courage and Honor). .
“The Bushido Code, its influence on modern culture, merged with the Filipino roots and principles serve as the inspiration for Arman Kendrick’s first solo exhibit here in the Philippines. For Arman, the intersection of his own cultural upbringing and the influences of Japanese culture and arts shaped his artistry. From the start, these influences are seen in Arman’s works, especially evident in his “Tako Jimbo” Universe; his own universe is composed of characters based on various Japanese lore integrated with Arman’s imagination and curiosity. Being his first solo exhibit in his home country, Yuuki to Meiyo is the synthesis of Arman’s universe, influences, and artistic contrivances pertaining to honor and courage.
Arman Kendrick’s Yuuki to Meiyo is also Arte Bettina’s first-ever hybrid exhibit; a step to close the gap between the future and the traditions of Philippine Art. Some of the works have an NFT (Non-fungible token) equivalent available – a move toward the promising future of artistry and digital ownership. With collaborative efforts, Arman Kendrick together with Arte Bettina purposefully aims to enlighten collectors, audiences, artists, and art enthusiasts about the promising future of NFT in line with the flourishing industry of Philippine Art.”
