Describing his own work as “fragmented samples of our culture”,
acclaimed American artist Erik Parker is known for his figurative paintings of disembodied,
twisted heads that ooze vivid colour. His works have been exhibited in various international galleries and museums, seamlessly combining elements of contemporary culture into narrative flows of politics, music, internet memes, hallucinatory dreams, conspiracy theories and the hieroglyphics of various subcultures.
Parker will launch a new
movement in collaboration with AllRightsReserved (ARR), releasing his first limited painted wood sculpture “WOKE”, based on the artist’s signature vivid colours and motifs. Global debut of the artist’s first-ever 3D sculpture
Parker started making paintings on pyramid-shaped canvases a few years ago. “I am drawn to the pyramid largely because it is a universally recognized shape that we all can relate to immediately,” Parker explained. “Pyramids reference ancient history and are the first abstract artworks. They also touch on the futuristic.” After deciding that the pyramid would also be the best starting point for his first sculptural work, he reminds us all to stay woke through his work.

“WOKE” was inspired by the artist’s collaboration with AllRightsReserved. “I am super excited to have the opportunity to collaborate with ARR on my first-ever cultural edition! I am a huge fan of their projects. I really like what they’ve done with other artists whose work I admire, like Nina Chanel Abney, Yue Minjun, and KAWS, so I am stoked to get the chance to collaborate with their team.”
