Well, I think it was bound to happen at some point. I’m surprised it took me this long to make it happen, if we are being honest. We are happy to announce that we now accept payments via Bitcoin & cryptocurrency on our TTC Shop! WOOOO YAAAAAYYY!!
What the F does that mean, though?! Previously, we accepted payment on the TTC Shop with Paypal, Stripe or Klarna. All three solid payment systems, some more well known than others but we get a steady income of orders from all three. However, with what feels like a recent influx in cryptocurrency understanding in the world, we wanted to be able to offer those that do partake in the crypto, the opportunity to spend it within the TTC Shop on all the Designer Toy goodness that we bring to the UK shores!
We are connected via Coinbase Commerce, which whilst part of the Coinbase family they only accept a small number of crypto currency at this time. So no DOGE at this time, but who knows what the future holds. What it does mean is that we can accept Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), Dai (DAI) and USD Coin (USDC).
I think at this stage of this post I will have either caught your interest with the Crypto chat or completely lost you. That’s completely understandable. Crypto isn’t for everyone. It might be in the future, but for now it’s for this that are interested in getting their minds involved with Crypto.
How to spend Bitcoin & Crypto Currency on the TTC Shop!
Hopefully, we have made it relatively easy to spend Bitcoin and your crypto currency on the TTC Shop, but I wanted to walk through the steps. I am going to assume at this stage that you have a Crypto Wallet set up, that holds your Bitcoin and/or crypto currency.
The first step of the process, is the same as it was previously. Find your product on the TTC Shop HERE and add it to your basket.
When you PROCEED TO CHECKOUT, you can enter in your shipping & billing address as is the norm. When you get to your order information towards the bottom of the page, you can now select your payment method. Selecting Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies will give you the PROCEED TO COINBASE button at the bottom. Click that.
Here is where it gets fun. Honestly, I tested this bit out last night to see how it worked before putting this out there and I’m relatively dumb and got it to work. If you have Coinbase as your Crypto wallet, you can use the Pay with Coinbase and it will log you into your Coinbase account. You can only still pay using BTC, BCH, ETH, LTC, DAI, USDC in your Coinbase account. If you don’t have Coinbase, read on…
Ok, you have your Crypto Wallet outside of Coinbase, you can select any of the six currencies (in this example, I’ve selected ETH). It gives you a QR code, so when you’re in your Crypto wallet on your smart phone, you can scan the QR code. If you’re not on your smart phone you can copy the ETH address and add this into your Crypto wallet, along with the Amount to send the amount to pay for the order.
Once you’ve entered the ETH address, and entered the amount owed (in this case 0.027099ETH), you can select the transaction fee. which it takes to complete the transaction. From my experience, I used Average in my test and it didn’t take too long for the transaction to complete. I got email confirmation via Coinbase relatively quickly. It did take about an hour for Coinbase to communicate with our TTC WooCommerce account to get the TTC order confirmation, but it did come through OK. Just a little longer than I expected.
