TTC does DesignerCon London 2021 Visual Recap

Coming out of the last 18 months, this weekend could easily be a flop. It wasn’t. Far from it. Bottle up this euphoria and sell it to the masses- in the words of our Gary. Little old me couldn’t make it to the first 2 days of the first-ever DesignerCon London *cue the sad violin music. I was taken by surprise by the turn out let alone the set up of the Dcon London. Factoring in the midst of the pandemic, DLR was not bloody working, but I saw people! double vaccinated or just had a test (with proof) the uncaged collector free to roam the hall of Dcon London 2021. Totally a small ComplexCon vibe and not the ToyCon UK where its pure art and designer toys, instant impact walking through the entrance hit by sneakers, clothing, and designer art? our very own humongous booth filled with designer toys, beer n tattoos couldn’t be missed engulfed with blasting sounds from the Live DJ I thought I was still in my 20’s in a strip club, oops I mean nightclub. Is this the evolution of your traditional comic con? One thing it was a blessing to meet up with familiar faces and chin wag for a couple of hours, plus meeting new collectors with similar interests. Below is a visual recap of the Sunday and some bonus snaps from our dear Bee Constable of days one and two.

Our dear Bee Constable

Personally, for me, it’s a double-edged sword having a mix of different scenes and communities. It’s great to see crowds gather still in the midst of a pandemic while I personally felt sad for some of the vendors as the Sunday looked slow and speaking to some vendors and exhibitors it was confirmed. The foundation has been set for 2022 Dcon London, things can only get better right? next year will be only fair to judge Dcon London. This first-ever Dcon London did well to pull in the crowds to be fair, will this mix of different scenes do good for each other? who knows, but speaking to a fair few it has its ups and downs. I can personally see Dcon London get better. Maybe I was hoping for Dcon London to be more like DesignerCon USA. Please note, these are my personal thoughts of Dcon London and only a small recap. See you all at DesignerCon London 2022! Look out for the Dcon LONDON 2021 video recap. MWAH.

  1. Must admit i felt sorry for the stands selling clothes , i was there friday night and most of saturday morning till about 1pm & did not see any one there, if i had a looked at the stands befor i booked my travel, i would not have arranged as much time as i did, did not feel like there was that much to do i got all i wanted to get done friday night in 2 hours.

I supose i was expecting a bit more to see & do but it was really just shops, so once i had purchsed every thing i ran out of things to do, but was then stuck in London on a tight budget till late sat afternoon.

I def would have liked more talks or some sort of paint your own blank class, some thing to make it a bit more of an event.
