Toy Art Philippines reimagines the art toy experience with HER TURN: A Custom Mariko exhibit and the TAPh2020 online art toy festival.

Custom is an understatement in HER TURN: A Custom Mariko exhibit as the artists transform the ground with their own uniquely identifiable styles. The artists come from a range of practices, some from design backgrounds, others from traditional fine arts, to channel their distinct techniques onto the Mariko figure. The Mariko with sidekick Necco figure from the Bulletpunk Network™ is the latest collaboration by the Devil Toys and QUICCS.

Below is the offical statement from ToyArtPH

The future is now. Toy Art Philippines reimagines the art toy experience with the TAPh2020 Toy Festival. The annual art toy festival fuses the physical with the digital with a custom exhibit, artist talks, and live selling via Facebook live (fb.com/toyartph) from 05 to 06 December 2020.

Earlier this year, QUICCS in collaboration with Devil Toys unleashed a new era of The BulletpunkTM network with Mariko and her sidekick Necco. QUICCS’s work has been awarded many times over within the vinyl art community and is now expanding to new forms. In this custom vinyl exhibition, Mariko, the highly trained swordsman, gun specialist, and only female member of the network will be in focus. The figure will be reinterpreted by Filipino artists in their uniquely identifiable styles in a combination of traditional and non-traditional techniques. Custom is an understatement as each piece confronts a multiverse of Mariko. This year’s custom crew of dominantly Filipino participating artists are: QUICCS, 13 Lucky Monkey, Arman Kendrick, Chkdsk, Creon Chkn, CVTY COLLECTIVE, DBTK, Distort Monsters, Epjey Pacheco, JP Pining, Klaris, Megumi Miura, Obscure Prototype Lab, Pixeldump, RKT KRU, The Steffi, Trip63.
