Like we said yesterday before we had the drop date, The major first line of defence is here courtesy of KLAV! Armoured up and ready to roll are the タンククラブ: TANK CLUB SUPER! KLAV9 is super excited to announce the upcoming release of his first sofubi toy: TANK CLUB. Forget metal slug, here are the タンククラブ: TANK CLUB SUPER, already rolling out 3 special edition armour and each having special weapons with telling tail signs of KLAV9 weathered styling. Don’t let the 4” tall, hand-sculpted, and made in Japan ンククラブ: TANK CLUB SUPER size fool you as KLAV has noted there little things pack some serious firepower! BUT WAIT, THERES the anticipated Sakura M9E figure Tank Club!
The Tank was started years ago and lived under a pile of forgotten projects in my studio until last December (2019), when I revisited the design and finalized some details. Tank Club is the bastard child of IG-88, R2D2 and Metal Slug. The master was scratch built with plastic model model parts from Japaneses science fiction models and WW2 tanks. It has 2 parts, a base and a turret, and 3 different gun styles.
“Prior to sending the master to Japan, I cast it in resin to make sure I was happy with the design. A few of those resins ended up in custom shows last year (Stormy Vault and Mothership). The wax was cast directly off the master so it has the tool marks of my hand, much like the brush strokes I purposely leave in my paint application. The production took a few months, but the wait was well worth it, as I honestly can’t express the joy of having a perfect copy of my sculpt recreated in soft Japanese vinyl. ” -KLAV
For the initial launch, KLAV will be releasing 12 – One Off, hand-painted and distressed. Each is numbered 1-12 and all weathered slightly different. The painted tanks only come with one variation of the main gun. The sofubi is 4″ tall, has one point of articulation and is stamped “klav-japan” on the bottom of the treads. The price is $150 plus shipping and comes with a screen printed header card.
There will also be a VERY LIMITED release of blank Tank Club. The blanks come in 4 colors (pink, green, yellow, and blue) and have all 3 variations of gun nozzles. The price for the blanks are $50 plus shipping and also come with a screen printed header card.
Because of the scarcity of the initial release numbers, KLAV will only be allowing a maximum of one of each colour of blanks per order.

As a special bonus, to celebrate the release of KLAV’s “Sakura” colorway of the M9E figure from Daytoner and Pure Arts (Launching Jan 7 on Smeye World as an exclusive), KLAV has painted 6- one off Tank Club in the Sakura scheme. The tanks are numbered 13-18 and feature different patterns and weathering. The price for the Sakura Tank Clubs is $150 plus shipping and comes with a screen printed header card.
