London based Studio Beta Funk presents to you some feline action with CHONKS! They’re gonna take over the world. After nap time. HA. We swear these CHONKS are not modeled based on our own physic HA.
Meet CHONKS
They might seem cute,
but they’re cross.
They might look well-fed,
but they’re fed up.
Yea, these cats have had enough.
They’re done with chasing their own tails.
Done with jumping through hoops.
Done with stroking someone else’s ego.
So they’re protesting.
By doing nothing,
But they’re plotting
to take over the world.
Sometime after nap time.
CHONKS are high quality art toy collectibles by Studio Beta Funk.
Each CHONK will be made from composite materials, stand at 10 centimeters tall and come in three colours: Taro, Slate, and Latte. As a Kickstarter Exclusive, there is also a limited edition “White Out” CHONK. Now you can be a part of the project and while you have the chance to be one of the first to own CHONK! Plenty of tiers to choose from while getting one at a bargain price before it goes mainstream.
Everyone who has seen CHONKS has a slightly different interpretation of its design: menacing, evil, angry, frumpy, introspective, and downright hilarious.
I guess CHONKS is all of those things, but since you’ve read this far, you might as well indulge me in my design approach.
I was designing CHONKS at a time when I was getting stuck in a creative rut. After about a decade in the same job, I wanted a creative outlet. So I turned to 3D modelling and animation. It was the right decision. Designing silly characters and worlds, I found my mojo again.
At the same time, my new cat’s blissful idleness inspired me. Cats engage with the world on their own terms, and reject all societal demands. That inspired me to a stylised cat toy whose expression can best described as a playful form of defiance.
So, to me, at least, CHONKS isn’t just an art toy, it’s a personal manifesto against the unrelenting demands of today’s world. A totem that reminds us to be resolute in discovering our own path.
Here I will like to state a massive caveat: all “art” risks being over-intellectualised, and is highly subjective. So everyone is free to interpret CHONKS differently. One thing is for sure: CHONKS doesn’t care what you think!
(…but what do you think?)

About
I’m Joseph, a London-based creator who loves creating funny models and characters in 3D. But enough about me. Here’s my cat, Feebee, with some early miniature prototypes of CHONKS.
