No Ordinary Love by Camilla d’Errico x Dark Horse Comics

Transitioning from painting a gorgeous art collectable sculpture, comes Camilla d’Errico art coming to you in a sculpture form! all the hallmarks and signature rolled into one release. As fans of Camilla d’Errico, under lockdown we were scrolling through Camilla’s Instagram feed to this classic and found originally released way back in 2012 it looks like Dark Horse still has some stock!

Canadian artist, designer, and graphic storyteller Camilla d’Errico is winning a legion of fans as her career explodes worldwide in paintings, graphic stories, designer toys, apparel, and commercial assignments. Dark Horse is very proud to bring forward her first deluxe sculptural piece, a bust based on her painting No Ordinary Love.

“No Ordinary Love is a piece that is very dear to me,” Camilla d’Errico reflected. “It’s the visual interpretation and expression of my feelings for my ‘one and only,’ so you can imagine how exciting it is that this particular piece was chosen!”

Dark Horse caught up with Camilla back in 2013 with a little interview about the sculpture

DHC: Did you have to approach this process a little bit differently than you do for your other works?

CD:As my first statue, and first 3-D render of one of my paintings, it was all a series of firsts for me. I spent a great deal of time going over the details to get the right look. With a series of still images of the 3-D model I was able to visualize so much more of the girl than I had even conceived. Now I had to think about what the back of her dress looked like, what her hair shaped into…it was really neat to imagine her in 3-D space. I’ve never had that before with my paintings.

DHC: What’s been the reaction so far from your fans about the new statue, and what excites you most about its release?

CD: My fans are thrilled! They love her. She’s as close to the painting as she could get, and it’s very extraordinary for the statue to have the same painterly detail as the painting. Her dress is stunning, and the crows are so detailed. It’s really surprising. Pictures don’t do her justice—in person you can see so much more of the small details that make her so comparable to the painting. I’ve always wanted a statue or a figure of my work, so this is honestly one of the most exciting products I’ve had the pleasure to release. FULL INTERVIEW HERE
