Okay first I need to breath. In… Out… All good, let’s go.
I love first times and brand new creations. Recently I stumbled upon the work of Joshua Hansen of Saturday Morning Cult and fell in love immediately. Who said the dark arts cannot be cute? Well, maybe my grandma, but that’s not the point. What matters is that Joshua had a vision. After making a few different bootleg figures he decided to try his hand at sculpting and created the ‘Baphomet and Friends’ series. Being inspired by the long runs of anime watching with his girlfriend he really liked the idea of kimo-kawaii characters like gloomy bear and the whole cute but evil concept.
The first thing that he thought was to create a kawaii version of Baphomet and the first version was born in May of 2018. He released 20 resin versions in June 2018 and they sold out insanely quick. Two more resin runs after and in November of 2018 he decided to finally take the next step and turn the cute Baphomet into a soft vinyl reality.
I love every single aspect of Baphomet. The sculpt in on point, well balanced, with the right proportions. Cute and devilish. I can see a lot of potential with customs paint runs or simple collecting all the cast variants.
Stands 6 inches tall with 3 points of articulation. Available in two blank versions for this first edition. Black and vibrant pink.
The best part? It’s insanely fair priced at only $35 plus shipping per piece. Available now at saturdaymorningcult.com.
More variants and custom painted runs coming up.
I am very impressed with this first figure on the ongoing Baphomet and Friend series. Cannot wait to bring you a full review. Stay tuned!
