A journey into the Universe of Art Toys” will be the twentieth temporary exhibition, since the year 2009, organized by Tolosa Puppets International Center – Topic Museum. It will be open from 21th October 2017 until March 2018. And this will be the first museum in the world to examine the current artistic trend linked to the Art Toys in relation to the Puppets and with the objective in addition that the public can have a contemporary vision of the Universe of Art Toys.

An Art Toys Exhibition coordinated and directed by the Topic Museum, curated by Fran Picazo and organized and co-curated by artistic and international “Art Toy Gama” Collective in the city of Tolosa, province of Guipúzcoa, in the Basque Country, Spain.    www.instagram.com/arttoygama    https://franpicazo.com/

More than 50 artists of different trends and disciplines from 16 countries. (SPAIN, CHILE, ITALY, ARGENTINA, COLOMBIA, RUSSIA, USA, UK, PERU, SINGAPORE, MEXICO, AUSTRALIA, JAPAN, CROATIA, POLAND, BOLIVIA and FRANCE)

But what is the value of linking, or rather, incorporating the Art Toy universe into the Art of Puppets as a “contemporary module”? Can we say that there is a kind of common narrative? What ecosystem do they share? Is there any ascendancy between Puppets and Art Toys? And with the Toys? And also, why Art Toys are pieces of contemporary collectable art?  This is what we talk about in the Exhibition, also write in some of the essays included in the Museum Catalog – just with the artworks by artists of the Exhibition, and will also reflect on the Art Toy Gama Blog over time… http://arttoystheoryandcriticism.tumblr.com/ and obviously here at The Toy Chronicle.

It is true that the union of Puppets and Art Toys has not been random. And beyond the world of the puppet, with the current exhibition, we want to show how the Art Toys, in addition to keeping the same essence of the puppet, maintain the aesthetic of the “toy”, although freed from its original function.

Because just as the Topic Museum is a museum to see. Art Toys are an Experience. They are to live them. They are not pieces of art created solely and exclusively for collecting; to be observed; and / or beautify the place where they are displayed or exposed. They are works of art that in their playful sense, are for something more than “play” in the traditional sense of the term. They are artistic objects for something more than to be “looked at or contemplated.” They are to experience them.

That is why also in the Ambigu Room of the Museum there will also be shown artistic photographs of the displayed Art Toys and protagonists of the exhibition in the Temporary Exhibition Hall of the Museum. Because…: Art Toys: More than display… And it is that photographing the Art Toys enters into the phenomenon of the game of adults… Because the Art Toys are “children of their time” … One type of creations that much of its success and increasing recognition is because it has coincided with the extension of the use of the Internet and Social Networks, and advances in information and communication technologies…

Finally, say how all the exhibited pieces can be booked and purchased through  Art Toy Gama Collective that is the one that promotes the Exhibition www.arttoygama.storenvy.com In addition to all the photos of the TOPIC Exhibition that are generated to Over time … will be collected in this folder of PINTEREST, accessible to everyone: https://es.pinterest.com/ArtToyGama/topic-museum-exhibition-art-toys-tolosa-spain/  In addition to making various publications at http://arttoygama.blogspot.com.es/
