I am an artist based in St Ives, a coastal town in Cornwall, UK.   My partner and I set up the Muju Studio here 7 years ago to focus on our own creative journey.
Mr Muju produces drawings, paintings and prints of an imaginary dimension – Mujuworld.  I take inspiration from this world and bring the characters to life through limited edition sculptures.
We both work full time on a variety of creative projects, and have been exhibiting and selling artwork to a worldwide audience for over 10 years. You can check out more of our work at – Miss Muju

About this project…

Since I was young I have always loved owls.  They feature significantly in ancient mythology and folklore, and are often associated with wisdom and good fortune.
Although owls are mostly nocturnal, I have been lucky enough to see them in the wild, which inspired me to create some owls of my own.

The phenomenon of the Northern Lights captured my imagination from an early age.  This kickstarted a life long fascination with glowing lights, natural and man made… from fireflies to bioluminescent plankton, and fairy lights to candles.
I have tried to illuminate the darkness with all sorts of different glowing lights over the years, hoping to recreate some of the magic of the Aurora Borealis in my own home.

This project brings together these too passions to create the Cosmic Night Owl.  By illuminating a clear resin sculpture with a colour changing LED light, I hope to bring the glowing Cosmic Night Owl to life.

Having lived in many different places in my adult life, I have often found the sense of home can be created anywhere, as long as when the night closes in, you can bring a feeling of coziness with the right lighting.
So I wanted to create a piece of art which could be enjoyed not only for how it looks, but also for the atmosphere it can create.
