Back in August 2018, the Toy Think Tank put on an awesome custom group show in Norwich, UK, based on B Movies. Do you recall the Attack of the Creature from Beyond the Forbidden Island show? Part of the show included the wonderful Babycake custom by ibreaktoys depicting the Donnie Darko character from the iconic Donnie Darko movie.
Needless to say, this Wake up Babycake sold pretty sharpish on the opening of the show to a good friend of The Toy Chronicle, Lee. Lee found TTC through his friendship with Uncle Absinthe and forever a bond was formed. Unfortunately, back in December, Lee suddenly passed away following complications after back surgery. After discussions with Uncle Absinthe and Lee’s wife, it was decided that we all wanted the Wake up Babycake to go to a great home to continue being displayed rightfully in a great collection, and also raise some cash for charity. So at ToyConUK this weekend, The Toy Chronicle will be raffling Wake up Babycake over the course of the weekend, and picking a winner on Sunday afternoon.
We will have raffle tickets available from Booth #1 at TCUK from Saturday morning. These will be £2 per ticket. All monies raised will go to Macmillan Cancer Support charity. Whilst Lee wasn’t a victim of cancer, Macmillan’s was a charity close to his heart and also to the Designer Toy community so it seems right for them to benefit from the raffle.
For those not attending ToyConUK, but would still like to enter this great cause. Please email [email protected] and we’ll get back to you with the information. It will likely be via a Paypal payment.
