Jon Paul Kaiser once again knocks on COARSE door to show them what a collaboration would look like. One collector had the right idea giving JPK a COARSE Mortal Kombat X Scorpion to customise for their collection. What did JPK do? Killed the Mortal Kombat X Scorpion silhouette.
Let’s be quite frank about it, Scorpion was already a great figure to begin with but with JPK idea and finishing it just made it into the style of RONIN. Scorpion’s mask was an ideal to incorporate a ronin mask and in out option a perfect fit. Look closer and the light grey patterns on Scorpion’s kimono has so much detail and excellent execution without losing focus on the overall silhouette of the whole figure.
Hats off to JPK for improving on his noir shadow style, giving a different look to one classic figure. As well as his eye and one steady hand for visualising where the shadows should be. It’s harder than it looks. One more thing we like is the fact JPK didn’t have the temptation to add red blood marks on the custom. Making you focus on the entire figure. COARSE x JPK official collaboration project in the near future? We hope so.
