There’s been no doubt, Paul Braddock’s “Eddie” is still regarded as one of the best bots for a number of years. What happens when an “Eddie” gets transformed into something different?! The man behind this epic custom is Singapore based photographer and customiser Tennant Lim! Star Wars fan or not, you can appreciate the level of paintwork that Tennant has done on Eddie. Boba colourway but tastefully done in our opinion. No quick custom here as Tennant shows the WIP right down to the first chrome base coat.
This is a commissioned build of a beautiful Eddie droid kit by Paul Braddock. I first saw this in a YouTube video by Adam Savage’s Tested ( LIES, Tennant saw our blog posts, HA ) and instantly fell in love with the cute Lil thing. Sadly the kit is no longer available (I missed the second run too!) so I jumped on the opportunity to paint this kit up for Jeff. The immaculate kit required virtually zero prep and I was able to prime and paint it right away. After some deliberation, Jeff requested for a paint scheme inspired by his favourite Star Wars character, Boba Fett. So aside from his signature kill stripes (there just isn’t room for them), I incorporated keys from various iterations of the Fett costume and took some creative liberties in the weathering.
It was first painted in Alclad chrome before I added layers of paint and weathering in stages. Aside from the chips revealing chrome, which I achieved with Maskol, all other scratches, dings, and layered chips were hand-painted with acrylics, oil paints, and weathering pencil.
