The brains behind King’s Guard and Elizabeth I, The Queen, Henry VIII, Beefeater, Shakespeare and Sherlock, Frida Kahlo just to name a few, Joe & Caitlin by day and Fancy Lamp by night, the duo Collectable Cities officially linking up with legendary artist Edward Gorey! Fancy Lam has already activated the live Kickstarter campaign to help fund production while taking advantage of being one of the first to own one, plus a saving compared to when it’s released to the general public.
A hauntingly good collaboration – limited edition collectables and key rings
The project has just launched on Kickstarter, reaching more than 60% funding in its first 24 hours. If the campaign goes on to hit its stretch goal, the range will include both Dracula and a figure of Gorey himself — complete with his iconic fur coat and cat companion. Supporting this Kickstarter not only guarantees production, but backers also receive the figures at a lower price.
Closely based on Gorey’s haunting illustrations for Dracula on Broadway, the character holds his cape out in the silhouette of bat wings. His mesmerising eyes and slanted stance perfectly capture Gorey’s gothic humour, while the reverse of his cape features the artist’s signature cross-hatching. The limited-edition collectable will come in a tomb-shaped box, accompanied by a hand-numbered collector’s card.

Alongside the Kickstarter, the studio is also releasing a key ring collection featuring some of Gorey’s most fantastic characters — The Fantod, his whimsical cats, and Dracula himself, complete with a tiny bat charm. These can be added to any pledge and make perfect gifts. The key rings will also be available for general purchase in December.

More About Edward Gorey Prolific author and illustrator Edward Gorey’s distinctive style created a new genre in graphic storytelling: the sprightly disturbing. Born in Chicago in 1925, he spent much of his life in New York and later in a creaky house on Cape Cod, surrounded by cats and curiosities. His inked worlds of charm and dread reveal the beauty of the macabre, where even the darkest tales unfold with impeccable grace. This collaboration is officially licensed by the Edward Gorey Charitable Trust, which continues his legacy by supporting animal welfare — caring for the creatures he loved most: cats, bats, and other animals in need.
About
Collectable Cities began as a passion project, born out of our love for travel and storytelling. Having gathered mementos from across the globe on our journeys together, we took note of how much joy they now bring to our daily lives from our bookshelves. Whether reliving memories of shared experiences and happy moments, or a reminder of a funny anecdote, these small items hold great personal value.
We have run a successful creative agency, Fancy Lamp for over ten years – working with brilliant clients to bring ideas to life. Joseph specialises in engaging character design and animation, while Caitlin focusses on branding and graphic design. With Collectable Cities we have brought everything together in the aim of spreading this joy to others, throughout the capital and beyond.
