The designer toys movement walks hand in hand with street culture and subsequently with streewear. With the huge boom of KAWS during 2016 with the advent of the open editions the mainstream audience was desperate for more KAWS related items. Following the huge success that was the KAWS X UNIQLO UT COLLAB collection rumours started surfacing of a collab with the giant NIKE. We got the confirmation back in January (original post HERE) that a brand new pair of Air Jordans would be dropin’ soon.
Finally the Jordan x KAWS capsule collection is officially announced, not only the beautiful Air Jordans but a whole new apparel collection ready to make hypebeasts and KAWS fans happy or sad, depending if you are getting any or not;
Of course the stars of the show are the Air Jordan IV x KAWS. These are the first collab product between the Jordan Brand and KAWS;
The grey color is a direct reference to the companion pieces, featuring a glow-in-the-dark outsole;
Finished with premium grey suede, for that cool feel and look! To top things off the signature KAWS’s XX complements in a stellar manner the classic “AIR” marking.
The collection also includes a black satin coach’s jacket with contrasting red Jumpman and KAWS “XX” detail on the right and left chest respectively.
A black hoodie and t-shirt with tonal reflective print, featuring KAWS’ trademark hands and the brand new “XX AIR” logo.
A cool piece with a killer concept is the five-panel cap;
According to Gemo Wong, the Senior Design Director for Special Projects at Jordan Brand, the cap is a direct inspiration from KAWS himself; ““KAWS wears a five-panel all the time,”.
We have to say we are very impressed with the entire collection. Despite all the controversy surrounding the open editions and what not, these are very classy, clean looking clothes. With a solid concept to support the design these will become all time classics. Speaking of the Air Jordans, well… If you don’t like them either your are lying or you are dead.
