I want to start fiddling around with resin dyes and marbling, but it seems kind of hard to find any decent resources for this. I’ve seen a lot of videos of people using alcohol inks in epoxy resin, but it’s usually in those pre-made coaster molds and not an actual figurine mold. I’ve only been using urethane resin so far, so I had a few questions:

    1. Is epoxy resin suitable for an enclosed toy mold? Are there any workflow differences from urethane resin that I should be aware of?

    2. Can I achieve similar marbling with urethane dyes? If so, what are some good dyes/methods that I can use? The resin blocks made by Deranged Donkey aka Pourcasso are the types of marbled effects I’m hoping to eventually achieve. Here’s a link to some of his work: https://pourcasso.com/collections/display-blocks

old topic. but if you haven’t looked at it yet, smooth-on has some good videos talking about their products. resins come from many manufacturers now and can be dyed, pigmented with loads of different things.
