As we have previously said, each week we get messages from budding artists wanting to know how to get into producing their own art toys. A great starting point has always been the Plastik Surgery Handbook by Matt Jones (available HERE on TTC Shop), but that focus was mainly on the resin toy production. Now Matt Jones aka Lunartik has taken things one step further and produced a book that looks deeper into the production of art toys on a larger scale.
With the wealth of knowledge that Matt has acquired over the many number of years that he has been involved in the art toy scene, this new book he has self-produced is definitely worth investing in if you’re looking to get into your own designer toy production, or even if you are a veteran in the scene and want to touch up your own skills, this is definitely the book to read. The Art Toys – This is How We Do It book was released this past week via Lunartik, and it is only FIVE pounds to purchase (free if you’re a Patreon of Matt). Not only does the book feature an in-depth insight from Matt on the process of producing Art Toys, he has also roped in some additional help from the likes of Unbox Industries, Evan Morgan and Caitlin Ashford, who are all on board to offer their wisdom on multiple aspects of the process – whether that is 3D printing, resin casting or toy production.
It’s a great book. We had the pleasure of reading it last week and think it gives artists a solid foundation of what the background to toy creation is all about. I don’t think many realise the ins and outs that is involved. This will give them the insight they need to start down the road of toy making.
You can buy your copy from Lunartik HERE for £5!
