| Long Description | From Concept to Creation – The Development of Consumer Products When you develop a new product, there are many steps involved. The first step is the concept stage, which includes brainstorming ideas and testing them out on customers

Design Design is the process of creating new products and services. It includes all aspects of planning, developing and delivering a product to market. Generally, the aim of design is to create a product that appeals to consumers, and helps the company increase sales and market share. This is done by using research and understanding the needs of the customer, their habits, frustrations and wants.

It must also provide utility to the consumer, so that they will want to buy and use it again and again. A designer should consider all aspects of the product from packaging to user interfaces. This can be difficult as designers may not have a clear picture of what the end product will look like and how it will perform. Development Product development is the process of creating new products that are designed to be profitable and sustainable. It involves testing prototypes and concepts to determine feasibility and gathering insights from users about their needs. Development often takes place across multiple social contexts and historical periods. Lifespan theorists believe that development is a multiply determined, multi-faceted and dynamic process that requires the combined efforts of multiple factors. In some situations, people and businesses develop products themselves before manufacturers get involved. Until they are commercially viable, these developments may proceed in an unsystematic and inefficient manner. A consumer-goods company that had lost 50 percent of its market share radically changed its development process through a six-week sprint led by a designated product leader. The product leader organized a team of cross-functional professionals who undertook a series of workshops to brainstorm and align key design choices across the portfolio. The result was a new line of product designs that achieved market share gains and met cost targets in the first six months. Marketing A good marketing department can provide you with a steady stream of new customers and keep your old ones coming back for more. To do this, you need to know your customer base inside and out if you’re going to stand a chance of making the big bucks. From there, you need to do a bit of research to figure out which products and services will trump the rest. Using that information, you can create a marketing plan that will woo your sexiest clients and keep them at the top of your list of prospects long after you’ve handed over their hard earned cash. Production Production is the process by which different inputs like labor and capital are used to create outputs in the form of products or services. Firms combine these inputs in a way that maximizes their profits. There are four main factors of production – land, labor, capital, and entrepreneurship. Each of these has a physical structure and can be touched or seen, while others are intangible.

Consumer goods are the final value-added products that are distributed in mass consumption markets, and they represent a major manufacturing sector. These goods are manufactured in volumes that cannot be reached by niche market or industrial products. These goods are divided into two classes – durable and nondurable. Durable goods are those that last more than three years and serve important needs repeatedly, such as refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines, and clothes. |
