This time last week we had a chance to be at Reed POP’s MCM Comic Con in Birmingham. Armed with a press pass, (Thank you MCM) we went on a hunt for artists that we haven’t covered as well as the hope to find as much designer Toys as possible while enjoying the Comic-Con surroundings with cosplay.
Speaking to vendors, Sunday was as busy as Saturday if not busier. A good sign right? personally, I was overwhelmed by the sea of people but in a good way. Plenty of cosplay and…… FUNKO and plush. So if you guys are into Funko you will be spoilt for choice that’s for sure. In true Comic-Con fashion, what’s a Comic-con without Star Wars, Doctor Who, and memorabilia? MCM Comic Con Birmingham had it all. Live stage, gaming, and workshops keeping people entertained not forgetting the westling and axe throwing! I was personally on the hunt for POP MART and it’s a rare occasion for POP MART to be so close to Nottingham. POP MART even had limited releases like exhibition HIRONO that I have been looking for ( Thank you team Mogic). A gem of a find was a vendor who had some Fools Paradise! if you are into blind boxes collectibles Blind Box Empire had various ranges from Asia. Discovering artists and independent brands was the icing on the cake, artists like Animeink, Fuzzballs, Raccoonkun, Little finger Chris Duncan, Cindacry
Indigo Abbie Art, Chao Illustrations, Spirutts and many other caught our eye.
In a nutshell, we hope to see more deisigner toy and art collectables at MCM in the near future. With the amount of attendees we could spread the love of designer toys. Defently worth a visit especailly if you have never been to a comic con MCM is good place to start. We just hope for an easier way to find booths with a clearer numbering system.
