Kiboochan takes to the stage with her “Pinocchio”sculpture will be part of the show “The truth about Pinocchio” from November 22nd to 29th at GKO Gallery. I guess you all know by now how much of a fan I am of her work. Her contribution to the show is simply beautiful, I love the feel of emotion in the piece along with the mask and the wooden look like Pinocchio should be.
PINOCCHIO I read the story about Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi and was a little bit surprised, it’s a little bit different than the Disney movie. I wanted to show my interpretation of this book. Pinocchio acts like a kid with many faces. He’s selfish, full of conscience only when he gets into trouble, makes many promises, lies all the time, but he’s also very naive and a big dreamer (and murdered the talking grasshopper). So I tried to show that using two kinds of masks. An evil one and a good one, huge lollipop, prison trousers, and making him sit on his conscience.
Having interchangeable masks is a nice touch and makes the mood of the sculpture change completely. The paint work is always great and never disappoints me.
Along with nice features like a crushed bug and and quality fabric used. Both masks supplied are a work of art themselves.
Size: 11″ x 7,5″
Mixed media (polymer, wood, fabric )
