From illustration to 3D figure, Woochie by Trivia Goh of Trivialities gets new leas of life in a different medium. Trivia’s first solo toy design brought to fruition from scratch now ready to make it into the resin field and a contrast adaptation from Trivia’s watercolour style.
Enter Woochie, the first of the Blot Beasts series. These creatures are conceived from shape silhouettes found in the environment and I’ve made illustrations of them in watercolor/charcoal to document them. And now we have one in 3d! Types of Blot Beasts
Blot Beasts are palm-sized creatures that are
primarily black and white because they come
from a world devoid of color. They’ve been
known to come in mainly 2 coats, pure white
or with accents of charcoal black. Overtime
however, pure white Blot Beasts tend to
adapt to our world by colouring themselves
for better camouflage.

Finding a Blot Beast
The key to sniffing them out lies in observing
silhouettes. Ink spillages, dents on walls or raindrops
on windows make for wonderful maps for finding
Blot Beasts. Once you’ve zoomed in on an outline
of a shape, seek out where the eyes should be, and
gradually the rest of its features will fall into place,
revealing a creature. Upon spotting a plausible Blot
Beast, do not panic and keep it in focus. The best
way to secure a Blot Beast is to ink it on paper.
Adopting a Blot Beast
Blot Beasts are firm believers of the saying “if it
fits, I sits”. They are exceptionally fond of boxes. If
one is interested in adopting a Blot Beast, one
simply need a box for it to sit in.
